It will only be a short time before the 2012 is causing him problems so he ought to keep the 90’s Peterbilt around for a while yet?

He needs to go to the IRP office and have the registration changed. Get stopped running heavy on a light sticker won't be a pleasant experience I'm sure.

Is he in a big rig? Bobtail the thing will weigh over 16000lbs.
Yep. Happened to me. Crossed a scale at 98000 and was registered for 80k. Got a ticket for 18000lbs. I almost started crying.

Yea it's a 2012 Pete 386 flat top day cab.

That's why he is so confused and nervous about the registration weights

    cke Thanks this.

3 axles 50000 lbs. Thats for bobtail only. Tractor trailer would be 5 axle 80000 lbs.

Something is way off on that registration, there is a Peterbilt tag in the door jamb with the stamped empty weight of the truck, it should be 14K+ for a day cab. That truck is registered with a farm tag, you can't use it for anything but farm related work as it is plated.

I’m guessing last guy had it plated that way to save $$$. Your friend should have paid 2290 and registered IRP for 80 k. As of now he’s limited to hauling @ 50 k gross, Maybe 20k ?Payload

That looks like a tiny farm truck to me. That means no public road unless you are hauling specifically harvest to market.

Break out the old smokey pete that is the one you want to take your load down the road smoke and all, this is still a free state last I looked. Smoke all you want. (Not pot)

There isnt enough information for me to decide any further. If you are not sure you want to disclose it, then call the DMV they are the keepers of the registration etc. Make sure you have enough insurance in case of a whoopsie with something very big and expensive.
