Broke key in kenworth ignition

    Accidentally broke my key in my ignition I’m in the middle of nowhere in slapout Ok i can turn the key to the on position but I can’t turn it enough to crank is there another way I can get truck running ???

    If you have a pair of tweezers in the truck, that might work.

    screw driver.
    If you can turn the key to the run position. Then hotwire your starter.
    Connect a hot(positive) wire to your starter solenoid where your ignition switch terminal is. Small screw. Just touch the hot wire to the screw until truck starts then remove. If you leave the positive wire connected your starter motor will continue to run. That is not a good thing.

    I'm scared I'm going to break a key off one day. There have been countless times I've shut the ignition off with my knee and my current key has a permanent 15° bend in it.

    you might be able to pop off that cap inside of the locknut. (where we can just barely see the key)

    once you do that, you'll have more access to remove that key

    Probably for the best, you tried starting Kenny's motor with Peter's key. Not sure they swing like that. :biggrin_2559:
