Common courtesy and common sense have been dead way to long to not have a law. Thats the sad part.

The fact that a professional driver does not think this should be the case?

    Also sad.

I agree with the whole safety of road workers thing. I'm going to be one soon myself with the union. But from what I've seen from drivers in the road in joisey, its causing people to be crusing along at 65-70mph and then all the sudden they see flashing lights and are immediately swerving to the lane next them, causing all these other drivers to hit their brakes.

LE and ERs need the law. But many people need to bring a better developed brain with them when they get behind the wheel, and stop doing stupid #### that creates unnecessary hazards for others.

Working on the highways is an inherently dangerous proposition. It will never be completely sanitized of danger, despite the best efforts of govt to do otherwise.

So push for increased texting and driving enforcement. That would help. And if the ijits you see would look farther than 15' ahead that would help too. If a ticket or accident is what it takes...

    So be it.

Perhaps, but today we have 20 times more vehicles and 20 time more distracted drivers, driving too close and at much higher speeds

    JReding Thanks this.

And encouraging people to ignore common sense and courtesy will make it worse not better.

    JReding Thanks this.

They are and they do, but it does little good. Yes, a ticket or impact with another is what it takes to get some to figure it out.

The distracted driver epidemic is practically a national emergency. Smart phones is the root of alot of these problems. Well, that, and cars that arent made of steel like they were back in the day. Imagine a smart car vs a 1970 buick. Lol.

I have been in situations that I cannot move over, so me, not caring about who the hell is behind me, throws the 4 ways on; slows down to a crawl; wiggles over to the left line and goes on by...

LEO's know SOMETIMES it cannot happen. I just minimize the risk of them loosing a hat from the wind.

But generally speaking, I look far enough ahead, so that I am already a lane over (maybe 2)

People now-a-days are so far up the phone or someone else's rear that they have NO CHOICE but to look at someone's gas hole and NOT see if front of them.
