All these jobs are not for beginners. You are probably going to have hard time backing in some places. Maybe a few months of OTR to start with....

I just got my CDL out of a private truck school in January, and landed a local gig hauling tankers. Be careful what you wish for! It's ummmm, very exciting at times!

Lol I get what ya mean but I’m married and my wife doesn’t want me to go OTR but it seems like OTR is the way to go because it’s easier driving versus dealing with local traffic during rush hour -_-.

I was in the same boat my friend, No wife, but my 2 youngest kids that i have full custody of now. I just threw out apps for local jobs, no matter how much experience they wanted. Understand that local doesnt always mean your in one city or town all day. My second day on the job, no driving experience other than an empty 28' box at truck school, and I took a 79,824lb 48' tanker over the Grapevine into L.A. traffic and back. I'm still pulling seat cushion out of my ###! Got it done, delivered, and here to tell about it, but not a fun experience. Surge in a smooth bore tanker is a hell of a thing in L.A. rush hour traffic when your green, lol.

Lol #### man LA traffic is no joke, I work in south pasadena off the 210 freeway and live in chino hills off of the 57 south and 60 east and let me tell ya, 60 miles round trip every #### day. Takes me an hour and a half to get to work and same amount of time getting home. The job market is pretty tough nowadays, especially for non-trucking jobs, too much competition. I couldn’t find work around my area, so I have to commute. How are you liking your tanker job? Sounds fun and scary to drive haha

I'm still a little sketchy about the runs into L.A., But I appreciate the the hell out of this family for giving me a shot, and keeping me from doing the OTR thing right out of school. I was lucky, right time, right place I guess. Steep learning curve, and long hours, but everyday gets a little better. That 605 freeway is a #####!
