I agree with you for people that know what they're doing. You should have had a trip planned out, but sometimes trip plans don't workout as planned especially in California.
But nowadays there's a lot of people out there that their trip plan consist of typing the address into a GPS, and that's the entire trip plan. I'm not saying that's right by any means I'm just saying it happens a lot.

I am thinking the driver didnt know about the fifty mile rule. Yes the SUV is suspicious, tho RIP
The truck should have found a wider shoulder to park on. -
Does crap happen? Sure. Does that mean he was right to park there because he was too lazy to find an industrial park to hole up for the night? Of course not. There are simply too many tools available in this day and age to be lazy and pull over on an expressway for HOS.Last edited: Mar 6, 2019

Trip planning is moot for the driver because some bureaucrat at a desk in Washington, DC is doing the trip planning.
Local police and security rent-a-cops cruise industrial parks and have trucks towed and ticketed. I've been all over the nation and it's not like it used to be. Can't park in many industrial parks or Walmarts or strip malls anymore. Tow truck operators even cruise abandoned malls and strip malls looking for trucks, claiming the owner of the property doesn't want trucks parked there. They don't even know who owns the property; it's usually some investment firm in another state that have no idea predatory tow companies are making money from their property.Last edited: Mar 6, 2019

1:20 a.m. What are the chances that alcohol was involved and the truck driver will still be thrown under the bus?
