Getting a pretty ####ty deal this week. Only one Williston and local work. The company is running tankers for Jade out to Chicago empty and back loaded, yet apparently we're struggling for drivers for flat deck.
I asked over a year ago for a new truck and as many miles as they could give me. I'm still waiting for the truck and the miles keep going down since the new year.1951 ford, Tug Toy, johndeere4020 and 17 others Thank this. -
My adventures with Amazon, load is special because some one didn't order it on time.
I get the phone call for this Amazon load. (Non-inventory).
( the white labels they print on and paste on the boxes.)
Says on paperwork "DO NOT SHIP FEX-GROUND"
I grab a Van since they need it before 5 not 6:30 if driven by truck .
I rickie-race to the Amazon location, with my super hot expedited load. I get on site at 4:45pm
I head into the mega-shopping &shipping facility. The guards all of 12 who work the gate stop me I tell the kid I'm not loading, or picking up.
He becomes very puzzled because I just threw off his routine for checking in semi-trucks by driving a Van into his area.
I tell him it's a (non-inventory load) can you call someone on your radio? He's explaining to dock guy I'm in a Van not dry van a Van, van. Shaking his head he gives me my yard pass and sends me to the far end dock next to a forklift ramp with roll-up door.
Here stands on the dock the guy from radio call. as I back up my Van to his dock plate.
I hand him my paperwork, he asks to see a roll.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see this is not coming off here. I say to dock guy. " Open up roll up door, I'll back up forklift ramp and open van doors. Then you can just grab pallet off with your forklift right behind you."
Here is his response.
Dock guy :"I can't open the door for security reasons."
me: I say "why did they send me to this side of warehouse, with a forklift ramp?"
Dock guy: " let me call my boss"
Me: " I'll call the shipper on my end"
Dock guy: " my boss is not here, we can't unload you because your pallet is not in a semi trailer."
Me: "I drove 300 miles for you to reject the load because I'm not in a semi?"
Dock guy: " you drove here from someplace in Los Angeles."
Me: " No I drove from Central California, 300 miles away"
Dockguy: " well give me 5 rolls and I will write on paperwork rejected load"
Me:"it's your dime"
I call office they are not happy, tell me to bring it back, they will talk with shipper and figure it out. Nice 600 mile day for nothing..... Ugghhh
Some of these warehouse procedures are getting way out of hand. No one wants to solve an issue unless it's not an issue. But fits in the routine of the warehouse.
Rant over -
I'm just getting a little bitter is all. I feel like I'm being taken advantage of. My wife says I'm too much of a yes man, but I just like helping. They just aren't making me feel like I'm appreciated. Thanking me isn't enough. -

This is my favorite. My own 1985 Freightliner single bunk with a 3406b set at 350 hp and 13 speed with 210 inch wheel base. When I first got it, it didn’t have any aluminum on it at all.
