How do you deal with the stress of driving in the Newark / New York Area?

I hope you pull over before you do that, or it will be the other traffic's problem when you're driving around with your eyes closed...

 

Just close your eyes and let Jesus take the wheel. When they ask for your statement on the accident just tell them it was god’s will.

(Not poking fun at anyone religious I’m a devoted Christian myself)

 

I'm from delco and based in south jersey.... when I signed up here I did not quite realize how much my loads would involve seeing the nyc skyline and even within the boros *shudders* I run tanker for me... just try and throw on some slower music and just sit back relax and do my thing... cut me off al you want just keep adjusting, now sometimes given I'm in a tanker it gets scary but you just gotta deal with it... record so far is 4 hours to cross the GWB at night even.... to the frogs throgs sigh thankfully we do get traffic delay pay just gotta write it down that takes some of the burden off.

I've been thru there once and timed it so I hit the worst areas at like 2 am

 

I go there all the time from Texas. Basically what I do is take my break usually on the outside during the day. Then I drive at night and try to make my delivery location by 5am or earlier. Get unloaded, then I exit around after morning traffic since being unloaded takes some time.

 

The thing that really gets up my nose when I go to NYC are the cars that pull off the curb or swing around the corner at the last minute so that I end up stopped with half my trailer still in the intersection. That's a ticket if the cops see you do it. But what can you do?

 

Adjust to their "point and floor it" - driving style
by adopting avoidance countermeasures.
In other words, dodge a lot.

I don't have ESP, but I seem to know what "they" are going to do.
Just think of the most stupid, absurd move they can make - That's it!

 

I lived in south jersey.
Done local work back and forth to north jersey
And ny city everyday.

I lasted about a year and a half.
I finally broke down after delivering some bottled
Water in the Bronx.
Took me 6 hours to get back to Trenton.

I quit the next day.
Loaded up my pick up truck with all my
Belongings and headed to Texas
With a 1000 bucks to my name.

That was 15 years ago.
I ain't never going back.
