They'd like to use them cheaper Charbroilers but they need a dependable runner.

I knew a couple guys that had the King Cruise and loved them, I was going to get one for my 3406B then ordered my IHC 9200 with a DDEC 430/470 instead and loved it.
Back in the 70's and 80's when I was running fuel and learning flatbeds we had "nvs"? governors on our 290 and 350 Cummins that you set with a second throttle cable. there were two types one that you just pushed the cable in to set the speed and another where you pulled it out to set the top rpm and then had to pull the throttle cable out to activate it.we were speed restricted to 55 mph on out tachograph and the company called me in one day to ask how i was fixing my tach cards so that the time was right but the lines were "too even to be natural" and yet i had the best fuel mileage on the 17 truck fleet (consistently 1 mpg above the next guy)
I got to speed then used the governor to set my speed with my foot on the floor. it worked like a cruise control. I believe the governor was a bolt on to the PT pump of that era.

I know exactly the type governor you're referring too. MVS and there were alot of machines that used that. Honestly, I have disabled every single one I came across in a truck. They were bolted onto the fuel pump and had and extra lever. Seemed like those things cause problems on the PT pumps once they got old and worn.
