Hello to all,
I'm a new member to the forum but been driving local for 25 years now. I was just looking for some advice, tips, recommendation on how to ground my Wilson 2000 trucker antenna properly. I'm driving a Kw t 800 daycab with the west coast style mirrors. I have the newer 2000 with the half covered cup to where you can see the coil inside.i have the 10" shaft and will be using 18ft of the gray coax with the amphenol pl 259 connectors .I usually switch between a Galaxy 99 and the connex 3300 hp. I don't run any amps so just the radios which have been peaked and tuned ( Galaxy around 40 watt, connex about 65 watt) just curious if anyone out there has some good advice,THANKS!!

Follow the path with an ohmmeter.
Add ground straps as necessary to complete the path.

Take a look at that gray coax you are using. make sure the shield Is at least 95 to 97%. If it’s less, I wouldn’t use it.

So an update to my antenna mod,new coax and ground wire I decided this week to install my new Wilson t 2000 ( the one with half coil showing) 10" shaft new 18' gray rg coax with the pl259 connectors, and about 2' of 10 awg wire for grounding. On the older style KENWORTH west coast mirror I used the flat factory antenna mount. I installed the ground wire from the bolt on mirror bracket and ran it along bracket with wire ties to front firewall .this truck has a threaded ground post facing outward which already had two truck ground tabs on it. I added mine too because it's about 2" long. I DON'T KNOW IF THIS IS ADEQUATE OR CORRECT BUT I DO KNOW THAT MY SWRS WERE AT 1.2-1.3 ON ALL 40 CHANNELS. I used my pre cut stinger from my older wilson which was probably cut down from 49" (length they are new)to about 46" roughly .my Galaxy received better and from what I was told the transmit sounded way better. I noticed too that the needle in my meter was working back like it used too. When dead keying mic the needle goes from about 1/4 meteryo half meter then with modulation it goes almost 3/4 meter. It used to do this before and I always used it as a reference because that's when I got compliments on how it sounded. Since I go off road alot into landfills and there is alot of uneven roads the Wilson stinger shakes alot I purchased another antenna online yesterday which I've had great luck with in the past .I purchased a SKIPSHOOTER 4' with adjustable tip for $33. There made here in Illinois. They are awesome antennas come in different lengths and colors and couple different styles. Im going to try it as well and compare.

Good job, you can't ask for much better than that. While I use the Skip Shooter's as well. I'm not sure you'll see much of an improvement. I do think it will be more durable than the Wilson as you won't get the (?) at the end of the antenna.
