Been driving for almost 30 years; got 'legal' (again?!?) in 2003. Went with Transport America, USA Truck, and FedEx/Linehaul (<<hated teams, tho..) ~ finally caught a good intrastate asphalt gig about ten years ago, worked there for quite some time, until the bossman's wife divorced him... and yeah.. there went THAT fleet (5 tractors/ 8 trailers...) Wife found me a good 'local' (Ohio) gig with Fab Express out of IL (but many yards in Ohio) and i've been there since. Man, I don't miss OTR. Home daily, weekends off, and good pay. LoL~!

Not at all. My uncle drives for SAPA (elite division of Knight) and he's almost 70, been driving for six years now; started out at Western Express, believe it or not... still throwing tarps for Knight/SAPA.

i don't understand this per diem as it relates to trucking. In other lines of work, out of town, the company would provide that as a 'bonus'. What gives? Purpose behind it? +/- for both driver and/or trucking company? Thanks. Greener than a rookie!!!

The best way to understand per diem is to google what is truck driver per diem. Lots of opinions on this, best to get the facts.
