Ive been hearing the term "steering wheel holder" on the cb alot lately.(ive been mostly driving I-80 in WY this week) what do you all consider the difference between a Driver and "steering wheel holder"??. I started to actualy think about it a few days ago when every one got stuck chaining up out of SLC and i had some one ask me if i had extra chains he could use and watched a guy put one chain on and try to leave. Were thos "steering wheel holders"?

The term is interchangeable with many things.

Like the measurement ****hair. It can be a few MM, it could be an inch, it could be a few feet, all depends on the scale or situation.

Same with steering wheel holders. Some are dummies, or jerks, or plain ignorant people, or in most cases, the absolute worst example of us all.

Now you all just imagined something different for the last one, and that's how interchangeable the term is.

*edited for forum rules. As I was informed by staff the original post was unfriendly and against the rules. The same premise still applies though

A paint by numbers driver. They have the minimum legal ability to drive but little or no judgment, no desire to have more skill or judgment. And they don't think there is any skill or judgment they lack. Think of a guy 1 day after completing military basic training and a veteran soldier.

A person with no ambition other than to physically exert as little effort as possible. Holding the wheel just so for 11 hours between the lines with a fingertip. Usually combined with a blank state of mind unable to process any problems that crop up and self absorbed by "Whee! I am a trucker."

    Makes me throw up.

I'll try my best to paint a picture

Finger less gloves, sweat pants, flip flops, 3 wolf mountain moon t shirt 2 sizes too small, carrying corn dogs, 128oz. Soda, and family size bag of chips out of the pilot, walking to his truck that he left at the fuel island while he was inside taking his 30 min break, but not showering, cuz ain't nobody got the time or funds for that.

I think it breaks down more like this.
    Steering wheel holders 35%
    Normal truck drivers 45%
    Really good truck drivers 15%
    Supertruckers 5%

Of course you can't be a super trucker until you've hit a hitchhiker with your piss bottle at 60mph
