I drove over 4300 miles for them right out of a 5 day orientation and 50% were DH which pays very little, got forced dispatched and they all denied that I didn't want to take the load in -56 degree weather then, no load because the batteries froze on the trailers, had to fight for layover. They all expect you to read their minds and try to make you pay for all the fuel. They were very manipulative and deceitful. Safety wouldn't read the emails to verify my credibility. Said he didn't have to because he believes his comrades. Apparently, he is not aware of the complacency that is overwhelming the company. Held my settlements when I threatened to quit and they still havnt reached by bank. I was harassed by a guard at their DC. He told me to drop my trailer and leave. Then, Cargill agreed with me in terminating the contract since I could not get the Police to assist me in retreiving my trailer again at their request so, I bobtailed home. Cargill was the worst relationship I've ever had. Had to fight for all my DH pay, layover and they mailed my first three settlements instead of direct deposit. What good are your settlements when their rotting in your mailbox while your slaving for free.

I learned years ago, when I was pulling a refer, stay away from anything that has the name "Cargill" on it.

Last couple of years Cargill has been looking for 100 drivers that should tell you something. They are offering $5000 sign on bonus, hope they start paying their O/O better. Used to be a great company. I tried to stick it out but I just became depressed working there. Was there for 10 years and slowly watched it go down hill. The management have a "drivers are a dime a dozen attitude". Had no problem leaving they didn't care.

I find it astonishing that you drove for them that long. They held my settlements from day one. Cancelled my insurance and just sent me, 6 weeks after I left- a notice that they intend to keep my reserves. Drivers need to be warned to stay clear of carriers that manipulate drivers by being deceitful. That company has no integrity and the government should perform an audit.

What this operator is not saying is that they left a load sitting and elected to bobtail out of the area without giving Dispatch a chance to recover a load for them. Also, they were asked to pull a trailer out and none were operational because of the severe cold but they wouldn't take it to a shop to have it warmed up to get it started. They left the area on their own choice, which an owner/operator can do but they can't expect to get paid for it. Then they DEMANDED pay for something they didn't do. When Dispatch was able to get them rerouted they were preplanned on three loads. The second load they were asked to leave the plant after making outrageous accusations and then left the load sitting at the plant instead of notifying Dispatch there was an issue. They would NOT communicate with Dispatch or Safety to give them an opportunity to get things straightened out. They wanted to do things their way instead of communicate and cooperate. In this business those that keep an open line of communication open are the successful ones. Those that think they know everything and go pout when they don't get their way will always fail.

Cargill has never held anyone's settlements "from day one". Settlements were made, in fact, until your routing code was given by the bank you were issued checks to your home. Once the routing code was issued by your bank your direct deposit kicked in. Cargill does have integrity and it is very truthful with its owner/operators. They are truthful to the point that some operators asked if Cargill wants them to sign or not. They were told that they did not want them to go out and have any surprises. If you wish to look at their safety and CSA scores they have some pretty impressive numbers to compare to other carriers their size. Cargill does its best to work with the operators. Those that actually want to work are very successful. Keeping any reserves is the because you most likely did not send back all of Cargill's equipment, plate and permits. Otherwise the final settlement and escrow is returned.

If Cargrill doesn't have anything to hide than it certainly doesn't need to be defended by anyone !!!

On the other hand if Cargrill needs to be defended for their iniquitys & deceitful ways , you can be sure there will be multiple sights for public notice as such
    .....no worries right ?

All these posts are over three years old. They have an ad in the Trucker rag and I gotta admit I am seriously thinking about calling them. What’s holing me back is nightmare memories from the 90’s. When I was working for a company that pulled a lot of meat loads from Liberal Kansas. For days I would be waiting for a load. I’m just wondering if Cargill is just as bad. Can anybody give me some updated information on this company?
