2010 INT. Durastar maxxforce DT wont do DPF regin

    I'm working on a 2010 International Durastar with a maxforce Dt, and it will not do an automatic regin, or a force regin. Where do I start Troubleshooting and repairing this issue. The Local International shops want to start throwing parts at it, but I don't have the money for there throw something at the wall and see what sticks maintenance program.

    We have changed the injectors, rebuilt the oil rail, changed the ipr valve, the icp sensor, had the DPF CHAMBER burnt out and cleaned, replaced the temperature sensors at the dpf, and the cam position sensor all at the recommendation of International, now they want to replace the high pressure oil pump.
    They tell us now that it is not putting out enough pressure for the DPF to function. I thought that if there was enough pressure for the injectors to work there was enough for everything to work.
    How does the DPF work on these 2010 maxxforce Dt's?
    Thank you for any help you can give us.
    (The DPF has not worked on this truck since we bought it.)

    International has a really good diagnostic manual for symptom based aftertreatment issues. It starts out with a system diagnostic troubleshooting tree that runs through the entire system, even gives you sample graphs of what your signal values should look like. To go any further you'd need access to a scan tool, NED/Servicemaxx, and the diagnostic manual. Your local International shop should have all of that. They are being lazy/ incompetent if they are just throwing parts at it. Ask them if they have access to International master service information, if they don't find a shop that does. No repairs should be done unless there is a clear justification, either the troubleshooting tree or International told them to. If they want to replace the HPOP, ask them to provide the values for ICP vs ICP Desired, what the IPR duty cycle was, etc etc. If you had any issue with the HPOP there would almost certainly be a code for it. Do you have the inhibit switch on?

    International has a solid systematic series of tests to determine if your HPOP needs replaced. This is involves using Navistar Engine Diagnostics (NED) connected up to a 4 channel oscilloscope device called a Cylinder Performance Analyzer (CPA). There is a at least four test harnesses connectors and a few changes of the inputs for each step of the test. If your HPOP is bad the program will generate a warranty code within the program (meaning pump is bad). This does not mean your pump is covered under warranty it just how the program works. So I think a careful shop wouldn't be throwing parts at it but will do systematic testing. Do that testing takes time & effort. All those test harnesses cost money & some work to connect up.
