Ask the school where you graduated. They have to maintain records on you, like that drug test you had to take. They have to provide those records to any potential employer. So they know everywhere one of their graduates got a job. They're a good resource.
There's also hanging out at truck stops and rest areas. They have to be able to get you home. If they currently have a truck there they likely can. If you see a bunch of their trucks they definitely can and likely have a terminal nearby or, at least, a big customer. They'll stop by on the way to/from the terminal. Generally gas is out in front, diesel in the back so you can park out front and watch the trucks go in and out. You can use the Trucker Path app to find truck stops. That will give you the names of companies in the area.
You can just call and ask if they hire inexperienced drivers. Hopefully you find a job and don't stay inexperienced so even if they don't you find out much experience you would need. You can also talk to drivers. Most companies offer a referral bonus. If you list their name on the application where it asks who referred you they qualify for it. Typically it's $500 if you're hired and another $500 if you stay 3 months. That's potentially $1k for a few minutes of their time. So don't worry about being a bother, most are happy to answer questions, just don't ask them for money.Mooseontheloose Thanks this. -

Try not to tell future employers that you prefer to drive automatics. Just in case they only have manual trucks. You wouldn’t want them to exclude you.
