Hey guys, I'm about to replace the hand priming pump on my Cat C-16. Does anybody know if the gasket on the bottom of the pump needs to have anything applied to it before installing, or do I just put it on with the gasket dry?
Thanks,
-Glenn

Mine did the same thing while on the road but was leaking pretty bad. Nighttime and no parts store open. I had an old sleeper air bag that hadn’t found its way to a dumpster. Cut a new gasket but left the center hole covered up. Worked like a charm.
No need to pump up after replacing. -
I put a priming pump on mine thinking it would make filter changes easier... nope. Worthless piece of ####.
I ended up putting the block-off plate back on. Loosen the return line, a minute or two of cranking, with a rest in between, fills the filter up and away she goes. -
