I respect your right to disagree and it doesn't bother me at all . But I disagree students shouldn't take crap from their trainers . Yes , it's wrong they should have to but carriers know drivers wil be subject to abuse from shippers , receivers , enforcement officers , and dispatchers . Somebody crying they can't handle the way a trainer treats them can't handle the job . Evidently some of these boys never went to military boot camp . Or maybe they were the ones that wrote home to Mama getting her to write their Congressman to have training be less harsh . That happened and any drill instructor can tell you training is a joke because of it.

once again i have to agree with you
as i said in my original post my trainer lets me make mistakes and makes me figure out how i will now get myself out of said mistake
that being said in the mean time it doesnt have to be an abusive process
military boot camp is a poor example
here you have kids joining a group that will have to depend each other in life and death situations
these kids are coming out from under mom and dads wings and probably gettng away with WAY more then they should have ( especailly in todays world)
they need to be broken down and be turned into men and the quickest way to do this is to have them fully understand who the boss is and that crap will not be tolerated
this being said i realize some guys will come out here and cry over things they shouldnt be crying over
i for one ran my own construction company for many years and have many times gotten into a workers face for doing something dumb which i have asked them many times not to do
getting into someones face and being abusive for the sake of getting cheap thrills are two entirely different things
no one likes a crybaby and we all know this is a tough world and only the strong survive
that being said when my friends who drive told me i sholdnt take any abusive crap i never thought that id run into that problem since i typically get along with most people
i was never the oone to get picked on in school and if im in a bar i never get targeted by the guy desperately looking for a fight
    drive safe all

that's the main problem with so called "trainers" they aren't picked for their ability to pass along knowledge with patience and respect.

Prior to becoming a truck driver, I had over a million safe miles as a transit bus driver and spent two years as a trainer as well. Trainers in bus driving have to be certified, attend regular refresher training, and above all else, have a Job like patience level. If truck trainers where selected and prepared like bus trainers, we wouldn't have so many problems.

hard to train a truck driver living in box with a stranger like a bus driver.
Respectfully agree with everything else stated.

No....that trainer would lie about how HE destroyed a new drivers chance at ever driving a truck again, rather than admitting he got his ### kicked for bad manners.

Again , how many customer's or cop's azzes do you think he'll kick before his career ends ?
As for carriers being more selective with trainers , look how long new hires wait for trainers now . How long do you think they'd wait if they held trainers to a higher standard ? I'm in no way condiing the traimers'
behaviour. But the abuse won't stop when the trainer is gone . Many new hires will be in a team operation . Do carriers have to start having newbies join Eharmony to find a compatible teammate ?

    luvtheroad Thanks this.

I hear what youre saying, as an LEO I don't talk to people that way unless they go there and things at that point are pass the point of no return. You can be hard on a trainee/student without the cursing part. But like the industry reputation is seen overall truckers are not viewed in a respectful way. My opinon is different that other cops because I was a driver so I know there is always good mixed with the bad.

With all that's happen to you trucking might be a bad idea for you. You will meet all kinds of jerks out there and with your past problems you might turn your anger into road rage, and we don't need anymore of that. The student driver I have now is a little to hot headed for me but we have worked on it and I tell him all the time, getting mad at traffic or getting in hurry for no reason is no reason to take it out on everyone else. If your in that big of a hurry you shoud have left sooner.
