I went to Sage in Fort Pierce 2.5 years ago. Tankers is what I had wanted to do and of all the research I did led me to Superior Carriers. From what I understand, they are the cream of the crop to work for... Another forum poster who replied to me in this thread confirmed what I didn't remember clearly...Superior will take you since Sage is one of their approved schools...In fact I had them actually approve the Fort Pierce location.

I didn't end up going there because of a lack of work history.. IMO that is where you should give the most thought..

Do what I did and call them..Talked with a very nice, friendly woman when I did.

Even if a tanker company's ad or website calls for experience, they may waive that if they need drivers bad enough. Best thing to do is to go to terminal and talk to the terminal manger directly. 2nd best is to call and ask to talk to him. Worst they can do is say no.

Doesn't @Chinatown says Schneider for tanker often?

I’m perhaps a bit biased but I’m with @Concorde. I think superior is one of the absolute best options for someone out of school, there are A LOT of guys who have been there 10-20 even 30 years. That speaks volumes itself. Not to mention all drivers are paid the same rate, which is a big deal for a new driver. I grossed 30k in my first 6 months with them and that was running 7-10 days out with the occasional 14-16 day run out of the northeast.

I think maybe the only instance I WOULDNT recommend them would be if you were looking at their NJ terminal. I never really liked going there much and I’ve heard negative things from several drivers about that specific terminal.

I strongly suggest you pick superior over Schneider or even quality carriers. No disrespect to any of the guys who work at either, just my opinion!

Edit: I wanted to add that I don’t work for superior anymore so there is no driver referral bonus motivating me, just grateful I chose them to start out with. Good luck

Yes, I have heard of some companies hiring grads with no experience, outside of the companies guidelines for employment. It definitely won't hurt me to apply. Thanks!
