Blowing by vehicle inspection on highways (eg. Missouri)

I was westbound on I-10 in La. headed into Tx. and in the left lane, like usual lol,went thru the prepass, got the green light and the man chased me down into Tx. and made me go back to the scales and weigh. He said I didn't get the green light.
He wrote me a ticket for running the scales, $250, and sent me on my way. I wrote Baton Rouge and explained the situation and it was dropped.
Anyway, back to your question, if it's open go in if you have any doubts. If it's closed and there are trucks in there, just keep an eye out as the man might be getting ready to pull you out of the traffic to check you out.
Your trainer should have explained this to you or at least someone at your training class before they turned you loose. Anyway, best of luck. Be careful and don't be afraid to ask questions...

 

To give a job to people who are too lazy/dumb to do anything else. Can't tell you the number of times I've been just waved through on I-15 in Cali in my own vehicle. While I've always had to stop and bring my paperwork in while in a big truck, they've never even bothered to look at the paperwork. This was while I was pulling reefers. . .

Rick, you can't really expect these folks to make any sense can you? This whole AG Insp thing is bogus BS anyhow. It is "make work" jobs, nothing more.

 

New Hampshire is strange about their scales. I have gone in there when it said "Open", just to find out they were training their school bus drivers. They flagged me on and that was that. Like the above posting, if in doubt, stop.

Grin I had one other time I was going through Northern Utah. There was some kind soul that came on the radio and said the scales were closed with "OPEN" on them. Like a sucker I drove slowly by only to see a sherrif come running out to flag me down. So I went in with my books and the sherrif wanted to know if I was over weight with a 5,000 pound load of confectionery sugar. Tried to explain to the sherriff, that load could be placed anywhere in the trailer and it would not make a difference. When I got back on the road again I thanked the trucker to hear a chorus of laughter comming across the radio. Thanx Guys, that made my day.

 

New York has them like that along with Vermont, Up in the northeast they will try anything.

 

60 seconds on your running board could have proven this, beyond a doubt. It blinks green for up to 20 minutes after passing a transponder.

LMAO... I remember that! They used to have big posters up in the truck stops with an enlarged picture of a fire ant, saying something to the effect of, "Help stop the spread..."

Hell, I don't even try to fight 'em in my yard anymore. If I'm feeling particularly mean, I'll blast a mound with the pressure washer while I'm cleaning my truck. THAT pisses 'em off!

I walk my property lines every year, with a can of gas. Funny how a line of dead grass can piss your neighbors off. But I don't have fire ants like they do either, and it's my yard.
