A DRIVER? Good Lord, that complicates matters more so. I never put a driver in my truck, they will whine to you like a bad bearing, and a married driver? :pain10: Even worse yet, I don't know where to start there.:dontknow:

Working through a company. They claim the truck will bring in $5000-6k per week. I
Working through a company my dad recommended that I get my own authority. I don’t have time to manage that aspect of the business though

Yeah, my thoughts on that are there’s no real way to have a backup driver. He’s sick truck sits, no $... Le sigh

If the rates are good enough you can rent the truck to get started. Finding drivers will always be the hard part. Unless you have an extremely lucrative pay package, you will get mostly bottom barrel drivers. A poor driver will put you out of business faster than a poor truck. You can also go to a temp service for drivers.

I believe that! Finding a driver has been tough and I don’t like to depend on anyone. That’s a serious struggle for me.

    Oxbow and Humblepie Thank this.

In all honesty trucking generally has a poor ROI

To put things in perspective, a local trucking outfit that hauls mail, is BEGGING people to work, going door to door practically, looking up anyone that had/has a CDL. They just had several drivers quit. It is a Denver night run, allegedly paid $30/hour, and offered newer equipment with automatics, 8 hour shift, seemingly the IDEAL trucking job, and they can't find drivers. Just a shred of what it was like 20 years ago. Like I say, I did ok, but got out for good reason, it's just not there today.
You came to the right place, as years ago, we didn't have the luxury of this site, and went in willy-nilly, trial and error, only to fail miserably, except failure back then wasn't as catastrophic as it can be today. I'd have killed for info like what is here years ago.
Like I say, go into classic cars, with these spoiled brats with deep pockets, if I had some money to invest, that's what I'd do.

I get it. I’m not trying to get rich. I do think I would like to work in trucking when I retire though.
