    What software are you using?

How long would you say it is taking for the brokers to pay?
How are you liking being own authority compared to many other drivers who are leasing on?
You can also send me a PM as well if you want.
    Thx

I use a app called “tiny invoice” it’s nothing fancy and it’s free. I make a invoice on the phone and print it out then scan it and the pod’s and email to broker.
I still do the bookkeeping with pen and paper.
Broker I’ve been working with for the last two years pays in seven days free with clean bills or 48hrs for 3%. That’s pretty unusual for brokers. The average is 30 days or more.
@Scooter Jones and some others that are more tech savvy will be along after while.

I just use excel. Make an invoice just fill in all the info. Then I use a pdf creating program turn it into pdf and also attach their load confirmation so that's all in 1 file. Then I scan all the bills or other necessary paperwork, border crossing or lumpers etc. and make that a separate pdf all as 1. So I email 2 pdf files and everything is there. Or I print then snail mail if they request.

Most are ~30-40 days, I let it slide due to sometimes slow international mail. Some are faster, some slower. I don't harass them unless we get to 60+. I take into account the days to pay if I have multiple options for similar work. As long as it's 45 or less I am happy. Some will try to sell you a load for cheap then tell you everything in the book, it's a light load, it's only going this many miles, it goes into a good area, "we pay fast" is sometimes one of these tactics. When they find out you don't do factoring or quick pay or fuel advance and you know what you're doing they know you're not here to bs around. We agree on a load? I haul it. Then bill you. Then you mail a check. For the full amount agreed. Easy. Kapisch?

You can use QuickBooks, excel, etc. it just basically needs to have their name and address on the bill to, an amount, a description with their load number, a date and a remit to. I pay $10 a month for quickbooks, it’s worth it to me. Keeps customer profiles for easy billing, keeps tracks of invoices...

I’d say most brokerages are at about 30 days, but some are (with no fees) at 3-5 days, 7-10 days, 15 days, some like Mercer pay in like 48 hours ach.

If I trust the broker company I deal directly with them for no fees. I have my company invoice in word, in my computer ( in my truck)
When I need to send it , I transport it to my HelloSign app and fill it out the info and I email it to them.
I use, also , a factoring company, my money is in my acc the next day for a fee of 2.75 % . If I want instantly, I paid extra $15.00 for wire transfer on top of my 2.75 %

There is no need to print out invoices generated from a computer or smartphone. There should be a way to transfer the file around or to your email. If all fails, take a screenshot from your smartphone/computer.

I print it out for myself, I keep bills and invoice with me until I get paid. A few times the girls that do the paperwork have overlooked a bill or claim it wasn’t signed. So far I’ve been able to look at it on my phone, and get it straightened out. I guess I’m the old dog that can’t learn the new tricks. I still use notebooks and Manila folders.

    • I use the Iphone app Invoice by Wave. It’s free. I email a copy of the invoice to myself.
    • It can take up to 60 days to get paid. All brokers have different pay days. My brokers pay within 30 days.
    • It’s more work as an ind. o/o, but also more freedom, income, and many ways to grow your business.
