Funny thing.. I get so lonely doing pre-trip because sometimes it seems like it's just me.
Even funnier.. I am starting to see the same drivers on my route.. Only reason I remember them is because they have a light out. For weeks on end. Why?
Do you pre-trip?

I'll be honest I will do a quick pre trip since I drive the same truck. If I drove a different truck than I would take more time.

I check the critical areas often but I don’t do a full Pretrip every day. However I will do a full pretrip once a week.
Odin's Rabid Dog, homeskillet, austinmike and 4 others Thank this. -
I do a pretrip .Ive made it a habit, but i dont think it needs to be an all inclusive pre trip, i just check the basic important componets of a working truck, oil, coolant, belts, tires, lights, brakes, air lines, elec lines,... U know all the basic stuff.. It makes me feel naked if i dont check the oil in the morning, or check tbe coolant, .. It was a habit when i was an equipment operator to always check fluids before running equipment,, nothing crazy is gonna happen overnight... All the crazy #### happens when ur driving, thats when something will break, but u wont get very far without oil or coolant,or leaking air or flat tiresOxbow, BigDog Trucker, Dino soar and 6 others Thank this.

My daily was lights, tires, brake adjustments on trailer if I was hooked to a different one, kingpin locking jaws, oil, coolant, and fan belt.
I'll admit my laziness as far as air lines go, I'd do a pump down and static air test.
Once a week or when I was laid over I'd do a thorough checkshogun, Canadianhauler21, D.Tibbitt and 1 other person Thank this. -
Check for stuff I need to replace at night before I crash. So I don't get delayed in the morning.
In the morning I just check the fluids, tire pressure and make sure everything is still connected. Then tighten down my load and go.Dino soar, Canadianhauler21, Bean Jr. and 2 others Thank this. -
Brakes, belts, hoses, lights, tires, fluids and 5th wheel, Walk around the truck to see anything out of place and hear for air leaks.
That’s daily.
Weekly is same thing but more in depth like crawling under the truck to see if anything’s out of place.BigDog Trucker and Trucker61016 Thank this. -
Sure lights, tires (DIC), fluids, leaks, smells, brake pressure.. 5th wheel handle not pulled. Easy stuff. Too much trouble for most of these slobs.. Good thing they are not flying planes!
BigDog Trucker, Bean Jr. and D.Tibbitt Thank this. -
Every day, every trip, every time.
We have a slip seat operation so it's imperative, and we're compensated.dosgatos, bottomdumpin, lovesthedrive and 3 others Thank this. -
