Have a question. I have a 2013 Freightliner Cascadia with a dd13 engine. The truck is pulling and running strong but my engine light came on. I am 350 miles from home and my mechanic. Should I continúe home or get it checked out now.

It depends on the engine. On my 2014 Freightliner Cascadia with a DD15, there are two amber check engine lights: a solid and one with “check” written on it. Typically you do not want to drive with the amber light with the word “check.” That one means the problem is happening right now. It’s okay to drive it like that for maybe up to five minutes. The red check engine lights are even worse and can seriously damage your engine if ignored. Now, if it’s just the solid light, that is just a note to the driver that a problem was detected. Check your manuals, especially the detroit manual to know the meaning of the check engine lights. They should also be available online.
