First one in 95. So 24 years if my redneck math is right.
So you've been pulling long loads for 7 years and you think 70 ft loads don't need to be permitted out west?
Heavyhaul.net is a decent resource for each states regulations. You might want to glance at it before doing your next load. Might save you a whole lot of money. I wouldn't treat that website as gospel, but its a good starting point to review each states requirements before ordering permits.
Pay extra attention to this overall length limits. Nevada for example...75' limit.
I'll state it again. Blanket statements are dangerous
What are the benefits of a long wheelbase ?

They may look good but honestly they are just a PITA to get around in. I don't want anything longer than 260 in. Wb. The places I go to are just too tight for something like that. Why make things harder than they need to be.

My old FLD. 280” wb. Everyone liked to tell me I could never go where they go.
My W9 I had. 280” wb. “It’s probably ok for hauling cattle but you don’t have to go to Chicago or anywhere with it.” Ok.
