Your right Lastkid!!!
Being an OTR Driver isn't for everyone and its sad that it will end up costing so much money for the student who decides it isn't for him or her.
I actually don't mind being out in the truck for a few months at a time, and JJ thought I would hate it......We went on a road trip when my son and his G/F came over from Australia a couple of years ago and I was bored with the travelling I was like ARE WE THERE YET!! But now I cant go out with JJ I really miss it.

Yes, the age is 12. 1bad checked on it b/c our oldest wants to ride this summer.
Yes,1bad made his delivery on time but just barely. He was down for almost 24 due to weather. Had he had more on his truck he wouldn't of had to stop for so long. But only having 4 pallets he had no choice but to stay put due to the wind. -
Jess, I used to be the same way. I disliked road trips with a passion; however as I mentioned before, I love it. Where else can you see the beautiful country, cross up to x amount of states and see what all four seasons are like.

His ex-student should be able to find a local driving job, if he is willing to work hard.
That is what I did after school and a few months on the road. At the time I could not find a company to take me because I was only 21. Back then most wanted 25+ with 2 years exp. Things have changed now. There were not many (if any) company schools in the early 90s. I was not sure where to look locally, so I went to a temp agency and they had a possition for me in less than 2 days. I stayed with that company for several years. After 4 months they hired me from the temp agency and paid me most of what they were paying the agency an hour for me.
In most areas you should be able to find something driving a dump or a mixer. Espically Mixers, turnover is high there becuase of the long hours and the labor that is needed in the job. Pay is not really high, but better than most other jobs he could probibly find. I live in a very cheap area, so pay is low. I was getting 13 an hour on a mixer, working 50 to 70 hours a week. But since the winters are very cold, long and snowy here, they lay off there workers a few months a year. I just could not deal with the off time and the low money from unemployment.
In a warmer area it would have been a good gig. Home every day, 600+++ a week take home. And some companys I know in Maryland have much higher pay and profit sharing.
It is all in what you want. Reefer is an easy gig. You have to be careful not to get fat on the road, because there is no real physical labor involved. It was fun for a while, but I lost over 30 lbs when I went to flat. -
Your Right ChromeDome! Cory (ex student) had an interview this morning apparently to drive a Dump Truck.
JJ had to call him to get his log in thingy for the QC so he could have him taken of the computer and he was at an interview then.
