Well, he has been driving for 6 years and he did his homework and he decided to this as an 100% independent o/o . All I did is helped him out on his paper work .
If he is disciplined, most likely he will do ok .
Getting my own authority, how do you get loads?

But not everyone will accept them I've found out.
Got a quote from Progressive a few years back for like $12K.
$30K - What in the world are you hauling?Scooter Jones Thanks this. -
This happens more than you think. That company is under contract, and has to get that load delivered.
So you're there to be their knight in shining armor. You're there to help. For a really good price too. -
However, if you know your priorities then things will appear much easier and remember everything has a price tag on it.
For instance , to me , family/ freedom is my number 1 priority, so far being an o/o 100% independent, is working great for me. Probably I could make more money doing something else, but my freedom and working enough to pay my bills and with discipline I’m doing better than what I had planned and I wouldn’t change for anything.. ..... retirement?? Well I rather travel and enjoy life now that I’m fairly young, than when I’m over 70 years old. Most likely I will not be able to walk the Great Wall of China or the Vatican or Greece, you know what I mean .

110k/yr for you and your business combined on a 1 truck operation I’d think most would call very successful in a down market.
Hang in there.86scotty Thanks this. -

And 2.30 should be fairly easy running that few of miles. Ok maybe not easy but very doable. The hard part is trying to drive and book. 2.12/mi on 2000/mi is easy as pie. -
chimbotano Thanks this.
