How does a crane excavate, unless it is a dragline?

I've been all over the world, every continent except Antarctica, and i have never heard someone knowledgeable call an excavator a crane.

I've heard it referred to as that as a general term when using one to load or unload a truck at a jobsite, similar to how some will call a loader with forks a fork lift, but they don't actually mean its a fork lift or crane and certainly won't argue the point when corrected.

Oxbox, languages are sometimes strange in how they evolve.
    A quick example.
In Caesar's language the word crane has 2 meanings.
First the machines as mentioned before.
Second any valve for liquids, gasses and powders.
Why that is,i do not know.
I leave that to professors and teachers.

Ps Cranes have been around long before the steamengine.

Nobody expects anyone to be right 100% of time. Just saying sorry, I made a mistake etc is needed. Instead, he said that everyone else is wrong, because name of company is Mammoet SALVAGE.

Anyone else I could understand, but with our Dutch friend (as we know, he lives in his own, small universe) this is completely normal, being wrong, shouting, changing topic, repeat for 915 pages.

We are using English, not Caesar' language.

Crane is also a bird, but no one is arguing that, and I imagine that indeed they have been around longer than a steam engine, but that fact is not germaine to the topic. The etymology of the word is not the issue. The correct contemporary term used to describe a specific type of equipment is.

His attitude on everything is the same, and he isn't able to admit his error on anything. Perhaps you could suggest to Caesar that his response should be tempered as well.
