Don't need to talk to anyone on the internet ... it's a pretty basic remedial business analysis to determine if that number is legit.

I worked for them for one and a half years, the number was realistic. with paper logs, and hard work. 270 was gross average per year get back home to chitown for the restart leave Sunday or Monday depending how hard you run through the week, but that's not the case any longer since we all on elogs now. Leasing your own truck after all deductions and expenses including repairs, if not so bad, and maintenance too(mine were 20k), that's 120k or so in your pocket before tax if you pull their trailer(transcraft). Pull your own trailer you make more.
No customer freight, few repeating loads. They book your loads from the load boards, and NOTE THIS their dispatchers/load bookers know the market well and are good at what they do, they are professionals in their field. You will most likely have a load booked a day ahead, very little sitting waiting for loads. If you are a lucky man to be with AFC at their honest stretch, you will make good revenue because they keep only 10percent plus cargo liability and accidental 40bucks a week.
Why do you quit then? I quit because they were very dishonest about the rates lately. what I mean they would book the load for 1900 and offer it for 1600 to you, then still take their percentage cut, typical to most chicago based outfits. 300 difference is big for a single truck owner/op. Just an example could be less could be more. To be fair, they don't steal off of every load. If you are in a dry area they won't lie about the rate, you will get the full 100 percent dry rate, rest assured. They cut your rate only when there's cream on top. Also seemed like the dispatcher/drivers ratio grew too busy for the dispatcher to pay enough attention to the owner operator.
Pay is every Friday direct deposit, no delays, and very accurate and easy to read statement.
Bottom line_ not the worst place for a new owner operator to lease to in Chicago standards LOL, if you can swallow some lies.

Why not just get the rate con on every load? By law you have a right to it being on percentage pay..

Slav looks like you're talking about different AFC.Recruiter and ops manager I spoke seem american, trucks are Peterbilt's and their fee is 20% not 10 as you stated.Anyways I couldn't find any negative reviews about them. But thats true, just request rate confirmations for all loads and youll be fine

    slow.rider Thanks this.

Rate confirmations mean nothing. They are easily edited with a software. Ask Ally the dispatcher why she's not sending you the conf right after the load is booked, but only at the end of the day. That's right, because they need time to doctor the thing.
A good way to tell if the carrier is honest with you is to talk to other owner ops at pickups and deliveries. Chances are you are going to the same place, or picked up at the same place. Compare your rates to theirs. Or call the broker and choose the accounting department from the menu.
Good luck to you. Try not to let them steal too much:)

I originally started this post and am starting with them the next week on the flatbed side. I feel really good about this company and have been wanting to work for them for a while.
