Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

Honda walk behind for the small stuff.

I also had an IH 1086 with mower untill few years ago, but neighbour leases the land now for his horses, and I got an offer I could not refuse for the tractor.

Sold it because I didn't use it much anyway. Not too practical for the lawn.
    But I do miss it.

One in my picture is an 2005 Grasshopper 727 with 61" cut. Bought it off a guy I know used that had operated since it was new. Very impressive built Kansas machine that I have had for five mowing seasons. They replaced it with a diesel model. Due to federal mandates, my 05 Kawaski has higher HP rating than the new diesel. No coincidence they are under 25HP. Imagine having to do a Regen while mowing some dry August grass!

I haven’t spoke of this until now. Back in the early 2000’s, I was tired of the rat race, and moved to the Netherlands. I dreamed of socialism, gov’t subsidized medicine, terrible food and biking everywhere.

I arrived in early spring and started work for a construction company. I was given a almost new DAF 6x6 dump truck and a Crane O Vator on a gooseneck. I assumed I’d be doing dirt work. I climb in the truck and it’s full of trash. When I get to the job site, I toss the trash (empty bags of croutons ) in the bed and instantly snap the rear axle and spring hanger.

I call up the boss and asked him what he wanted to do, chain it up and get it back to the yard? “No, No, No” he says, “we always carry the Crane O Vator and bury those DAF trucks wherever they break down.” After burying one each day for the first month, it got old.

I felt inferior compared to the intellect of the locals, so I ultimately left.

They were basic no-frills tractors, and the 66's and 86's had the 400-series engines (414-436-466), which is/was one of the most produced engines, and still very popular.
Still many of them in use in North America, from what I have seen.

As far as I know they were never officialy sold in for example Belgium or The Netherlands, but quite a few made it to Sweden, Denmark and France.

Mine came from Sweden, and it had the Elwood front wheel assist, which was the first thing I removed and replaced with normal front axle. I should have pictures somewhere, just don't know where.

Friend of mine imported about 20 66's and 86's from Sweden and France and a couple of V8's 0ne 1468, one 1568) from USA.

The John Deere 30/40/50/55-series were officialy sold in Europe (no 60-series, it was still called 55-series). Some of them were produced in USA, some in Germany. They were much more common over here than the 06/56/66/86 IH's.
And the 4840, 4850 and 4955 had the P-pumps on them, they would make a lot of power with just a few turns on the screw.

Many of them were exported (back) to the USA after having served a first life on this side of the pond, because of the high demand in North America.

I don't think that ever happened to the Internationals, there just were not that many of them.

Thats interesting but it explains what I was wondering about. The other day I was assembling a new plastic playhouse we bought at Walmart for our daughters. While i was opening the box, I noticed it said "Proudly made in The Neatherlands".

I thought wow that's kinda neat. For a change it doesn't say "made in China". Upon further inspection, on the box it says " Warning: this product is made from recycled materials, DAF Corp"

I assemble it not really realizing it was made out of recycled DAF trucks. I put it together then set it up outside. A small bird landed on it and it instantly fell into hundreds of pieces. I looked at my daughter and said, "see girls...this is why I'd rather had the dam thing made in China".

Never again will I buy a product made in the Neatherlands. Boy was I disappointed

I had several of those DAF’s literally disintegrate as I was driving them. I would wake up, hop on my:Bicycle:, and ride right past the hospitals that were providing low quality health care. There were many :Crane truck:(excavators) to avoid.

I’d get in my POS DAF:Lorry:, which was usually missing a :Wheel: or something that needed me to:Wrench: on, and I would start my day with hopes of making:Transportation cost. There were so many socialists:protest: some perceived injustices (manspreading, toxic masculinity) that I wanted to :puke:.

Every day I felt like I was:banghead:, and I got tired of the latent homosexuality. All the men seemed:color:, so I hopped on a :Airplane: and flew back to the USA where I now drive a real:Trailer:.

The smaller 66 & 86 Series here used the German Nuess Engines (310 & 358) the 358 was also fitted to quite a few trucks as as Option to the Perkins 354.
IH Australia also used a V8 Nuess DV550 (I think) in both truck & tractors, The truck version idled on 4 cylinders. The V8 was a big fail.

Apparently DAF has purchased a truck from the competition in hopes to reverse engineer. Apparently in hopes to improve quality
