Ok real questions for you,

Do you have a need for one?

Do you have the capital needed to run one?

That may be obvious but big truck ... big bills.

Don't buy without due diligence, there are thousands of trucks looking for owners out there, you can afford being selectable,

 

If you look on Truckpaper under glider kit trucks, you can find fairly new Freightliners for not a lot of money. If you don't mind Freightliner it might be a good idea. Of course the Peterbilts are nearly twice as much.

 

Ok what ever dude ... lol ....I asked those questions because ... while I don't have an MBA, I have a lot of financial education and experience in dealing with distressed fleets and it is there to clear up for us what and why, but more to show others how to think.

So you asked ...

So as you hold an MBA, so you know that the questions I asked are specific to your question.

Understanding the precise need and your capacity financially is needed to actually point you in the right direction .

What need to you have for the truck is asked to point out the needed specs for that application.

The capital isn't about what you can afford but what your needs will be in the future which really is for others.

 

I have an idea, that if he is keeping 5 hotshots busy he may have a line on a better than average gig for a gig truck.

Have to somewhat agree with the red truck theory. Know a few companies that run red ones, don’t seem to have a lot of problems with them. Also know a company that has all blue trucks, they have nothing but problems with those. Don’t get white ones, they look like everyone on the road. Green is good, don’t see a lot of them. Also consider orange, just not Schneider orange.

 

I would look for a truck older than 2007 13 speed unless you want to do alot of 100,000 lbs loads then go 18 speed I personally like 379s and at 550 hp or higher but if you are going to be running it a spending a lot of time a w9 with a studio sleeper is very nice but I would personally stay away from company style trucks like freightliner they have to much plastic in the cab and stuff breaks to much and you always seem to be changing the dash mount on older trucks

Buy a BIG Hood truck, Biggest you can find.

You'll need at least 800hp to move a 25,000lb load if any heavier, seek out a 1,000+HP truck.

If you can't do 100mph up the hill it's under powered !!

Big stacks of course, lots of lights and chrome ... Don't forget the big bumper, train horn and chrome lady stickers for the final touch.

You'll need the extra HP if you have all the right goodies... you'll be pushing more wind than a politician on an election run !!

Rodeo belt buckle and snake skin boots for extra points and the lot lizards will be impressed even more.

Once you get it together and mastered at driving, you'll be ready to wear a superhero cape with a big "S" and lease into SWIFT ..

Then..... You'll have entered the big leagues and made a name for yourself !!
