It has nothing to do with fuel companies, it has to do with the states in which you run, and the states in which you buy fuel. You are missing the point completely, evidently.

Stop on an even gallon. Boom, problem solved. Also makes IFTA a breeze

That would require me to go inside the store?

I’m really not understanding, and I’m suspecting you don’t know either. I pay my IFTA, KY, NY, NM, and OR taxes every quarter/month.

Oh no, you might actually have to talk to a real person face to face, or you could stand out by the pump and stop it on an even gallon, it's not that difficult really.

No you don't, in regard to IFTA. You pay them every time you buy fuel. All the quarterly report is, is a method with which to balance fuel purchased in each state with fuel burned in each state. I usually get a small refund every quarter.

Actually, nobody pays IFTA. IFTA (International Fuel Tax Agreement) was developed to make life easier for us in paying fuel taxes. Some states like Oregon, New Mexico, etc. still have additional requirements, but you are actually paying the state fuel tax for each state that you run in, and IFTA just balances it all out so that each state receives the proper amount.

Driver, I do understand how it works. You went off topic here. Assuming this rounding of the 3rd decimal on the fuel quantity is stealing from us, the question we both were addressing is who would be benefiting. I think it would be the fuel companies, but I may be wrong. I think these fuel card companies may very well be owned by the mega fuel companies.

Why would you have to go inside the store? I swipe my EFS card at the pump and stop on an even gallon.

I see what you’re saying, and it sure would make IFTA easier, but now it’s possible the accuracy (if any) of the pump may have been compromised. I have a good feeling they test these pumps on the highest setting (or levels 1-3) of the fuel handle lock. I know I am just guessing. It would be nice to test a couple gallons on different levels to see if it still retains its accuracy. I would guess forcing the fuel pump to go really slow would be below level 1 on the fuel handle lock.

To get a fuel ticket so I can cheat on my taxes. I don't like those little runs from the pump.
