Man, is that the truth. I do foodservice and even a week off and my uniform is snug when I get back. Got a feeling I'm going to be wearing a mumu after about a year of retirement.

I absolutely hated the linehaul stuff. It sucked to no end for me. Boring and uncomfortable. I gained 50 lbs. Lost all the weight since I went back to doing work outside of the truck. Everyone is different but I’m a delivery boy, not a trucker. Keep me in the city.

The main thing is not to eat out of boredom. Stay away from the vending machines, convenience stores, and fast food joints. Don't drink soda. Pack small lunches, and if you feel the need to snack periodically make sure it's carrots and apple slices, etc. instead of chips and manufactured extrusions of mystery cornmeal product sprayed with orange flavoring dust.

So did I when ran nights.

Well, I like to think I still run enough miles in a day where I still fit the “trucker” description. ;)

Don’t get me wrong: I love me some Cheetos (I just can't get away with eating them on a regular basis doing this job).

I drive for one of Mclanes competitors. I'm out for the full 14. I bring a turkey or pb and j sandwich on whole wheat, a clif bar, at least 3 pieces of fruit, pretzels and some almonds or cashews. A gallon of water and coffee.

I work with guys that eat complete garbage out of the stores and don't know how they function. Not to mention spending 15 to 20 bucks a day.

Best runs in the LTL game is weekend runs. No real traffic, no office politics, and at Estes, you can basically pick your loads! I miss it honestly

Agree and alot of good points in this post, especially the bad mouthing of newer drivers, and said SOME senior drivers wonder why the 23 year old newer driver who is running the yard goat isn't to hip to helping them out with moving a trailer to a better spot to hook up or something, respect goes a long way sometimes.

Haha that's hilarious, yeah such a hassle unhooking a #### trailer and lowering the landing gear, how bout delivering 1200 plus cases with a hand cart. So P&D you still unload though? Just not as much as foodservice
