I ran one of those in frame boxes on my international for a while. If you have a low mount fifth wheel, some trailers will snag the top. If you use any kind of boxes to keep chains, you need to make sure the bottoms are well supported and have some sort of containers to keep the chains seperate. I have pulled lowboys that had chain boxes between the frame rails built in, both front and back. I did have the bottom break out once and lost all my chains.

I was just thinking that, not sure how much weight they could handle, even a couple chains can get pretty heavy

Well I finally got my boxes in Friday and got them mounted today. I went with two 36" Merritt, one on each side and a 30" Merritt logger box on top of the frame to hold tools, jumper cables, etc. Worked out well.

I did not buy the brackets to mount them I fabricated my own using 3" channel iron and some flat strap for the braces. Start to finish building the brackets, painting, mounting all three took about 6 hours.
