Agreed. I'm pretty limited with what I'm allowed to do. As for now, I think I have it as best as I can get it. An install shop might be able to get it a little better, but I'm not sure if it would be worth the time and money for such a minuscule improvement. The antenna has been on an analyzer before, and my impedance was a tad off. Now, just to figure out how to fix that impedance number to be perfect, lol.

I don't know of any techs around me either, so I often implement and test self-help solutions.

For instance, you have already found that your set-up seems to be working pretty well from the "as clear as if you were sitting in the room with me" report. Now, if you want to make sure your signals are not too dirty, one thing you could do is to have a buddy put his radio on the adjacent channels while you are talking. For instance, talk on 19 and have him listen on 18 and 20 to see if your signal is bleeding over. If it is, that would indicate your stuff is not as clean as it should be.

Now you sound like Craig And Rabbi....LOL. If people say your radio set up sounds good, I would just enjoy using it and not worry about it.

I'm not THAT into it. They both have helped me tho, and Im appreciative for it, but they know alot more than me and are on a different level. It does give me something to tinker with at night night tho, helps starve off the boredom. I do have my limits tho. My coax is at 48ohms and not 50..... good enough for me. Lol

I'm not sure how dirty or clean they are. I was kind of hoping that since it was a factory radio, and not "tuned"....that the signal would be somewhat cleaner.

For some reason i think 48 ohms is better than 52...
Nothin wrong with searching for perfection....My issue is that i sometimes get hyper focused on some things and just cant let go till satified...I may never be satified in somethings......Now im not into things as other are but we all have our limits of acceptable vs not in different subjects and mine are a lil higher or lower than others..

My "limit" is when it's no fun anymore, starts to bring me unnecessary aggravation, or when the cost outweighs the benefit. Like Meteorgray said, I'm just going to use it and enjoy. Could it be better?...yeah, maybe, but at what cost? Not worth it to me.

What’s wrong the way Chris set up your radios ? Now you have a stock 29 with a 4 pill and you ordered a another radio from Hard drive ? What are you seeking ? Last time I read your posts, you was sticking with Chris’s set up.

Your correct, I was. But those setups didnt last very long. The radios were dead keying 4 watts and swinging to 30 watts. I had 2 RM 203Ps, and 1 Palomar 250 stop working after Chris tuned them (the pills are blown in all 3). He told me that he got 140 watts out of the RM's, and 250 watts out of the Palomar (neither are rated for that). Seems like they were being overdriven and that's what lead to their demise. I could be wrong tho. That's a discussion I plan to have with him next time I get back to his shop. This is what lead me to wanting to completely eliminate any kind of "technician" involvement in my setup. EVERY single one that I have used has delivered a radio that was worse than when they got a hold of it. I dont trust any of them anymore. HardDrive is my last attempt, if he fails, then I'm done with radios, it just isnt meant to be for me I guess.
