No, what we have learned from this is different additive packages can have varying properties, while still providing more than adequate lubrication. The oil itself is probably nearly identical.
And, I'll take the work of a veteran Cat mechanic over you every day of the week. I don't think you understand what the deposits that I am talking about look like. After all, you didn't even know to look at the label or the cap of the jug to see what specifications it met. Of course had you ever changed oil in your truck you would have known this. There is nothing to "break away". This mechanic stated that there was no apparent correlation in oil related failures between the two oils, just that one of them left a different appearance in the engine. And, at the time, Rotella was every bit as popular as Delo. Certainly the engine manufactures would have prohibited the use of Rotella if there was any evidence whatsoever of it causing problems.
Also, for the 2 stroke Detroits, high detergent oil was not recommended by Detroit, but Delo 30W 100 was, not the higher detergent 400.
Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

I’m going to have to come to Caesar’s defense here. My friend is traveling abroad in the Netherlands, and she isn’t mechanically inclined. Caesar stopped to help her out. She said he added the perfect oil to the rental car she is driving.
Hold on, she’s sending me a pic...

Reason for edit: added a bit.Cat sdp, Oxbow, spsauerland and 2 others Thank this. -
It is on the bottle, but the Ford documents that @spsauerland posted, explicitly warn not to just look at the API doughnut on the bottle. but instead to look for Ford specific information.
When you look at US oil bottles, the API specifications are almost always very prominent on the labels. So people are focussed on those API specifications, and not on the small print with engine manufacturer information. -
For those of you who likes model trucks, go to 9.40 really impressive collection!shogun, daf105paccar and 98989 Thank this. -
As a Daf fan you should have known, that paccar engines burning oil is very common, it's above standards, way ahead from other brands. Nothing good about it, but nothing bad at same time (they seem to last in that matter, like any other engine).
They are what they are, 0 smoke, seems to run, they last, just don't forget some top up oil for longer journey.Oxbow and daf105paccar Thank this.
