I don’t keep any more than 12 days available in logbook, only make 1 copy also, no carbon copy, that’s all I need for my records. That’s all they need to see. Over 12 days needs to be on file at Carrier. So I don’t give them a chance. It’s on file, alright, in my clipboard till I get home.At one time my safety rating got up to a 76, just enough to trigger a required status for inspection. At one point I averaged every 6 weeks. That went on for 30 mos. Finally they laid off Me. I passed at last count 57 out of 60 inspections. All due to one and my first ever accident.Thats been over 10 yrs ago. Back in the million mile club now. Whew!!!

I can tell you they definitely will. I handed an Iowa dot my whole log book instead of just the last 8 days. Around 2 weeks before on one day I didn't total my hours. I didn't write in the "24". He was an hole and wrote it up.

OK, I got it, I will keep my log book in the office then. So they do not see it laying around the cab.

    No, I drive for Swift.

A few years ago I was pulled in to the inspection station at Truckee because the Swift score was pretty low at the time. Nothing but friendliness and respect from the officers and I passed with no problems.
Every time I have had encounters with DOT people it has been the same experience, so I really wonder about all the horror stories.

Yeah I'm not saying some of these guys out here aren't their own worst enemy, but I'm also not saying every DOT officer is just a gee golly swell ol friend either. I've met DOT officers with personalities of both friendly, respectful and decent attitudes and ive met them completely ####ty with a false sense of authority that just wants to test you and push you.

Its basically luck of the draw with no guarantee either way.

Yes. You still must do a pre-trip and log your start and stop time etc etc

Nova Scotia DOT found I only took 35 hrs off instead of the required 36. He went back two resets to find it.

You still need to log. Read the rules

That could be. I've had very little actual experience with them in all this time. Guess I've been lucky.
I don't think I have been pulled in or over for inspection more than 6 times.

Maybe that is an advantage by working for Swift?
