I drove through Lubbock yesterday. Saw the sign but didn’t wanna (or have time to) stop. Now that I know they do a good job I’ll have to make time next time. -
Ok I’m still in for sure but the beverage may have to change? At least in the morning?
Name a date n time and I’m there. -
It’s at home waiting in the fridge.
Steaks are resting and taters are ready to be mashed. Now if I can actually get something done between now n then? -

A chorizo, a carne assada, 6 shrimp tacos. Bangin!
And we got a drink- dry hibiscus flower, sugar, water. Never heard of that flower, but it’s pert good. -
A little late to the discussion, but for the most part I'm in violent agreement with @rank
All the little things we blame these "tragedies" on are just symptoms. The system is broken because the big money interests have turned operating heavy trucks from a "trade" to an "occupation." That way they can pay less money for more warm bodies in seats. Simple as that.
The problem that exists is that driver doesn't have to know any of that in order to qualify to do the job. Along the same logic, the company that owns the truck doesn't either. Keep on going, nobody is responsible. Every part of the industry talks a lot about skills and safety, but nobody wants to actually pay for it or own it.
Once the dust settles, that driver might do a little time then he'll disappear into the scenery. He'll probably keep his CDL and be driving trucks while he's in prison serving time, maybe a few months at most. And again when he gets out. In my opinion, he's partially a victim just like the folks that died in the crash. To be fair, nobody was holding a gun to his head making him drive down the hill too fast. But it was really the whole industry that enabled the opportunity that a hungry young man jumped on.
And all the remarks about his immigration status? LOL. I won't make any friends saying this, but what has that got to do with what happened? Country of origin, religion, and skin tone don't cause anything to crash. If that's the first thing you go to, you really don't get it. If anything this kid did it the right way and apparently had a green card, so was in the US legally able to work. Fact is that our government and industry leaders enabled the path for an unqualified driver to take the wheel, regardless of how brown he is or how many middle names he has.Al. Roper, 1951 ford, blairandgretchen and 27 others Thank this. -
Morning morning. Best get my butt across the 40...
