Includes seals, tappets, guide pins, etc. If adjuster mechanism or actuator mechanism is in need of service only service option is replace caliper.

    Same here.
Only sliders and seals can be bought.
The mechanisme...............only in China(you can buy them here but from resellers who get them from china)

The ones on my trailer are now 10y old.
Guide pins are like my rotors............close to end off their life.(some play on them)
When present pads wear out,i know i have to change rotors(are now 40mm ,37mm is end off life) and i am in doubt what to do with the calipers.
Just put new sliders and guide pins and call it good or put all new calipers??
Next week i will get a estimate for new ones.

    Oxbow and spsauerland Thank this.

This is something people like caesar can't wrap their head around. They don't get that the vast majority of North America is low population density.

Sure they can look at a population density map and quote numbers out of it but then an hour later they will say something stupid like why do you need a car? Just use public transportation or walk. Even where i live which is moderate density its 2 miles to the grocery store. Walking and carrying groceries isn't practical. And public transportation? Ya its real practical to sit around and wait an hour with your food thawing for the city bus to come back on its loop.

If I remember right the exchange caliper was around $800. Drum brakes are definitely cheaper to service!
How long you keeping the trailer before you trade it off?

Oxbow, SAR and daf105paccar Thank this.

Look at a province like Manitoba. 649,950 square kilometers and 1.3 million people. 800,000 of that 1.3 million live in one city (Winnipeg). The other 500,000 are spread out across the rest of the ENTIRE province. Its not exactly easy to provide public transit for those folks who choose not to live in Winnpeg.

FYI i can tell all those reading this thread that the biggest reason for issues with the calipers is not checking and replacing the boots on the tappeds and the guide.
I have allways a spare set at hand.

    Oxbow and spsauerland Thank this.
