Well ive had mechanics tell me different and my dad driver of 25 years has driven c12 shifting at 1500 and there not luggin and chuggin also 4.10 rear ends are way high geared. Either way im done with this conversation.

4.10 rears are way low geared.
My 3.36's are fairly high geared.
You really should at least gather more info before continuing this conversation.
I will say this you seem to have the want to do this, that is the most important part of making it. Never being wrong is the easiest way to not make it.jamespmack, kwswan and Oxbow Thank this. -
He's how old...14, 15 maybe? Lots of time to learn things.
He needs to dial it down a notch and listen more than talk. It's his time for gathering information and using it, not for trying to impress everybody with how much he knows.jamespmack, Oxbow, Unidewking and 1 other person Thank this. -
I meant high in rpm not high in gear size yes they are very small gears very very high heck drag racing cars use 4.10s lmao

Ok this is the last off topic post and any other posts will be ignored and hopefully a mod will remove but here we go
Yall know jack #### about me so let me explain a bit here
1: Im 13 and ive riden in trucks since i was 5,and when i did it i friggin got in the trucks and rode every week end and ive been in trucks ever since
2: I dont know jack #### about yall either wo i have issues really trusting someone ive never met on how well they drive.
3: EVERY #### QUESTION I KNOW OF IVE ALREADY ASKED TO MY OLD MAN FOR CHRIST SAKES!!!!! Theres other questions i dont know the answer to but hell nobody does lmao.
Also how the hell can you be making peak friggin torque below your turbo??!!! Unless!!!!! Your not below the Turbo wow that actually would make since would it not ok. Im pissed and tired oh people assuming im just bs and not asking questions cause guess what i already asked my questions to somebidy i trust and i know can drive a rig #### well heck i trust my life to em every #### weekend since i was 5. Listen i dont know it all but i know enough to know that on flat ground with 4.10 rears on pavement you dont need #### 1650 rpm heck i told my dad this and he laughed and was like i ran the #### little less than 400hp c12 up to 1500 hauling flatbed frieght and she never gave me a issue and got good mpg... all the questions he cant answer i have asked in here lmao im not that dumb that i havent asked heck i had a convo with a owner op on here and he was amazed at what i had said and he agreed with me.(im not trying to brag just explain that im not ignorant like yall think i am) -
Ill try and simplify what ive been making my point this whole. You made a remark on achieving good fuel economy. I made a statement about how i drive this particular truck in a way I FEEL is an efficient method to achieving good fuel economy. Yes 4.10s are a good ratio for torque, yes alot of trucks can probably shift at 13 or 1400. But i dont believe with a 10 speed and an engine with emission thing restricting exhaust or combustion, that i can achieve good fuel mileage by shifting at 13 or 1400. If i take 10th at 1400 will the truck eventually get to 65? Sure it will. I never said it wouldnt. Im simply talking efficiently. Does this make sense now?
Aaaand yeah, to me, you still sound very arrogant and no it all. Those who know alot dont flaunt it, those who dont know alot talk like they do. We all have room to learn. -
You can complain to the moderators all you want...and you already have...but that doesn't change anything.
Just because somebody disagrees with you doesn't mean that they're insulting you.
If you're going to run your mouth to people who have been in this business longer than you've been alive you have to expect a certain amount of push-back. Learn to deal with it...life will be a lot easier.
Relax, open up your ears and your mind. You already know more than the average 13 year old but you still have a long way to go before people really take you seriously. You need to realize that. Soon.spsauerland, wore out, Oxbow and 2 others Thank this. -
Ok thats a egr motor. I made the thread about pre emmisions motors...
Also i didnt wana talk about what i know till people started asking questions ok im sorry im a little pissed cause first it was not everybody can drive a truck and get through the gears so i said that i could do that... then it was well anybody can learn to drive a stick shift also how is it that your peak torque is 1250 but you say that you need to run higher because 1400 is below peak torque ??? I dont understand this im not trying to be arrogent but i trust a 25 year driver more than i trust a guy who has been driving 6 months correct ? I dont know it all like i said you can only learn so much from asking questions! Also what rpm is 65 at in these new rigs i know 8 9 and 10 are a way larger step than they usta be. With those rear ends i know in a old 10 with a n14 and 4.10 she was hitting 55 at 1500 in 10th lmao also we have run these newer egr rigs too and so far i dont like paccar and the cummins is mehh but still running 1500 on flat ground and were loaded to #### close to 100k and were getting around 6 to 6.5 mpg trip average and like 4 to 5 mpg loaded which isnt very good but heck were running 10th or 13th (different rigs) and we hit a tiny hill and wooosh mpg said good bye. Either way dude im done trying to explain what has worked very well for us but hey you do you have a nice day also REO this guy is new like newer than me heck ive been in rigs 8 years not seen it all but seen alot thats all plain and simple. -
"FREE FOR ALL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"wore out Thanks this. -
No big rig gets good instant fuel economy on a grade, or hill.
Do not rely on instant fuel economy if that's what your referring to.
Gear ratio does not matter much unless you want to go triple digit speed.
All you need is gears to get up a hill.
Just remember this back when diesels first came out they were pulling about the same weights, on the same roads used today. But with far less horsepower.
