Get out of the truck and have a sit down meal. That's just one way I deal. That and enjoy my time off. Plus I still like what I do. Been something I wanted to do as a lil kid. I get burnt out every now and then, but a couple days away from the truck and I'm ready to get after it again.

For educational purposes.
Jan.01 to Dec 31 2018 Hopper hauling peanuts in the southeast. Loaded one way only so over 50%
empty miles.
May 10 to Dec 31. First partial year on my own after 14 years as a company driver and 22 as an o/o leased to a small outfit. To be considered as part of my insurance: Nov 2015 hit by a doped up pos who couldn't see a broadside flatbed loaded to 12' high in broad daylight. Feb 2018 Northland burned up the entire one million policy rather than go to court.
One truck and 3 trailers total value at $110K, ! mil liability, $50K cargo, unlimited miles ag exempt, first year premium was $17,000. Second year with full authority I paid $12,000. (I started a thread on that situation elsewhere on here - on the $12,000 premium).
The work: Jan 01 to Apr 25 2018 Paid out 30% of gross for the honor of working. Crap rates and too many miles. The work was a stepping stone to get me to where I wanted to work while the Nov 2015 accident played out. Off Apr 26 to May 09. May 10 to Dec 31 working for me. Paid out 10% broker fee
.
For the whole year of 2018 money to the truck was $162,000. 62,000 miles. Approx $35,000 for fuel. On Dec 31 no outstanding bills other than regular payments and 2 months on insurance ($2500). Came into 2018 with $10,000 fuel debt accumulated over 2+ years while paying out 30% waiting on aforementioned accident to play out. Paid it off in full the $10,000 in fuel. Bought a 2013 hopper in May 2019.1951 ford, SL3406, BigCam9670 and 18 others Thank this. -

I think the biggest factor in the burn out is running so much for chump change for so long making money for someone else.
I really enjoyed flat bedding. Just wish I'd have made enough to make staying possible.
And I'm not talking about getting rich I wasnt making enough to pay basic bills1951 ford, BigCam9670, Tall Mike and 12 others Thank this. -
