You have anticipated what might happen for 30 seconds, arguably even encouraged "the idiot" to pull out from off the shoulder, but you maintained full speed, and are probably running with lousy brakes if you can't slow down enough to avoid rear ending "the idiot" in the following 7 or 8 seconds you've been given after he does pull out. Nowhere do you mention slowing down at all. But you're gonna demand that people on your left slow down for you, and if none obey you're willing to wreck or kill one of them.
To quote Johnny Rotten...The problem is you.
I'm seeing a lot of newbie drivers doing this lately

Are you actually Canadian or just trying to take advantage of our reputation for good nature?
In case you are unaware, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder is a very real thing.
Right or wrong, you get to be the first to look in that car, you may well be the last to hear them scream in agony.
I know drivers who have had to watch while a car burns with the occupant inside pinned against the wheel and fully conscious. If you think that won't affect you, SuperTrucker, you are wrong. -

Lot of different thoughts on these pages. Here’s mine.
I thought we were the professionals. I thought we were the ones to try to anticipate a four wheeler’s dumb actions or even another big truck’s actions. This job I do driving isn’t a race. Slowing down to let somebody in the lane so they can get over for a few seconds isn’t going to make anybody 20 minutes late for their appointment. If you’re that tight on time you need to learn to trip plan a little better. There is no prize for passing everybody first.
ROW doesn’t mean anything when it comes to a committee determining “preventable” or “non preventable” accident. Who’s “at fault” doesn’t mean it was non preventable. Sometimes yielding or slowing down even though you have ROW means everyone gets to go home safely. We’re the professionals....maybe we should act like it instead of always being about “myself and my agenda.”
Four wheelers are not expected to be professionals. We expect them to be on the phone, reading a newspaper, doing makeup etc., while going down the road. And even a fellow driver who is driving like a newbie...we were all newbies once. You have no idea what that other driver is dealing with...nerves, maybe bad news at home....either way, as a professional we should be able to handle slower moving trucks/cars without this “get outta my way, I’m coming through” mentality.
My two cents...Gearjammin' Penguin, Toothpick1, tinytim and 6 others Thank this. -
PREACH!
Can @blairandgretchen get an AMEN?
Just because your truck goes faster than 63mph, that doesn't make you a "real driver". Just because you're st00pid enough to run nose to tail, not leaving yourself guessing room OR a way out, that doesn't make you a "real driver".
When that swift newbie is having trouble backing in at night, do you help him learn how to do it better? 'cause that's some "real driver" ####.Dan.S, Lepton1, Double Dime and 2 others Thank this. -
Slowmover1, Lepton1 and T.Rucker Thank this.

You don't want to be inconvenienced by slowing down for something in YOUR lane, something that you had over 30 seconds to react to,
but you'll cause inconvenience or far worse to others by forcing them to slow down for you on a dime in the left lane. Or not....cuz you don't care.
I'll be charitable and assume you're just a big talker who doesn't actually put disobedient drivers on the median in real life, and let you have the last word as well. -
kemosabi49, Lepton1 and jamespmack Thank this.
