they’ll slap some jewelry on him, take his passport and check in on him every day.

Not sure how that public defender deal works. Does the state have to pay for experts? I have to guess they do. He also will probably get some pro bono help. There seems to a lot of sympathy for him

he will have a lot of help from the spanish/cuban community to flee, and once back in his homeland of Cuba, can disapear rather easily, so yeah, i hope he never makes bail.

Pure speculation. I would probably try to swim back to cuba and hope the bracelet didn't work under water if it was me. lol I would hate to be in his shoes for certain.

I do not know how that public defender stuff works, but I suspect it is not the best or even close to it.
I would imagine the state will have the brakes looked at by a so called expert for the prosecuting side, I guess the public defender could use the same info, maybe not a good thing though.

  7. Responding to a previous poster, and in regard to whether the truck in question passed by one runaway truck ramp or two. I've gone back and looked at a number of articles, including one that says "ramps," plural.

‘Blood Coming Out Of My Face’: Driver Describes Fiery Crash On I-70

However, taking in all the information and videos, indeed it appears the driver in question went by just ONE runaway truck ramp. HOWEVER, I believe there were at least TWO SIGNS that advised drivers of the runaway truck ramp, one saying the ramp was ahead, and one saying the ramp was, you know, right (expletive) here.

So I modify the point I'm making. He didn't go past two ramps. But he went past two SIGNS for the ramp.

    Why?

BECAUSE HE COULDN'T SPEAK ADEQUATE ENGLISH. And there are all kinds of drivers out there who can't speak English because the proficiency test is a JOKE.

P.S. That guy isn't going to flee to Cuba. He'd probably just flee to Mexico and hope he could blend in.

I feel your anger toward this driver is misplaced. He had a valid CDL a valid green card and a clean abstract. I’d say heads of government officials that enable this are the ones that should be on a pike right there with him. This guy isn’t the problem he is a symptom.

Maybe. Or maybe you didn’t lose your brakes yet. Tomorrow could be your day. Will you panic and freeze up? Talk is cheap. What life or death situations have you been in?
