Let's define what his definition of "some english" was. They're covering up because they're going on the sympathy route as they always do to minority perpetrators.
Just some questions came up after the I70 crash in CO.

I am shocked that some people here seem to approve the possibility of 23 year old Rogel Aguilera spending decades in prison. It looks like it was his first trip in the mountains, in possibly a substandard truck. Starting on top of the hill, he had no idea how he would end up on the bottom of the hill. It is entirely possible that he did not fully understand what a runaway truck ramp was. (it is not in CDL book). A perfect English speaking flatlander may also not be fully aware. Rogel deserves to be punished for being a bad truck driver, but not given "decades" for vehicular homicide. I hope that he has a good lawyer.
Regarding "sudden brake failure" on a trailer, usually there are signs before. There is "applied" leakage test per the CDL book, also a trailer tug test, you can hear air hissing, also people should get a feel on how their truck stops in general. I had several instances in which I felt that my brakes were not working 100%, after which we went and adjusted/fixed them. It is usually not that "sudden".
This driver's problem likely was not lack of English, but lack of brains in general. He was just too stupid to handle that situation.Last edited: May 5, 2019
Slowmover1, tommymonza and rank Thank this. -
They should also hold the people that knew he couldn’t understand English well also liable. Actually pass a law to make people responsible for setting a lunatic on the loose. The cdl mills would think twice about quantity if they knew there was a chance they’d go to prison also.
