This kid, and I call him a "kid" because "kids" do stupid things, isn't going to make bail, ( I'm sure it will be a new record bail amount)unless he has several classic cars to sell, and why would he swim back to Cuba? Florence has probably the best health and dental care, and I heard there's like a 2 hour wait sometimes for the tennis courts. Put him in one of those urine soaked heckholes in Peru, that will teach 'em,,,
Just some questions came up after the I70 crash in CO.

Reading all these comments one thing should stand clear,,,
Do a freakin pretrip inspection!!!
A driver is ultimately responsible for the truck and trailer. Just as a pilot is responsible for his aircraft or a captain for his ship.
Even where I work I see drivers all the time who just crank up and go, never checking anything.kemosabi49, stwik and rank Thank this. -

tommymonza, Hammer166 and 201 Thank this. -
I am 55. Only been driving for a little over a year. Consider my self to have a fair amount of common sense.
Been towing heavy over sized boats that were mine for decades off undersized vehicles with a bumper hitch.
Did my first steep grade off I think 70 down into North Carolina. I got lured into speeding by the surrounding traffic.
I had my self on The edge of control seconds after I noticed my excessive speed
Not fun not safe. It can happen that fast. We need to change the education processs. Heck I would take the course right now even though I have ran a few Grades since than.Last edited: May 5, 2019

And this is why the education process needs to be Changed and improved 1000 percent.
It is a disgusting joke.
Don't even get me going on the testing process for a Captains License
Absolute Frikin joke -

I once had a trainee on the truck. He'd just completed his CDL training and, by the gods, he knew everything! Anyway...we're getting ready to go through the Virgin River pass in the NW corner of AZ and I tell him he's going to downshift while going downhill. How that little ####er wanted to argue with me about what he was "told in class"!!!
I just looked him in the eye and said, "You dumb SoB, this may save your life one day if you're willing to actually learn something so do what the #### you're told!" Long story short, he ran the revs a little high, hard braked to about 600rpm below proper gear speed and dropped 2 gears. Jake's held him at speed the rest of the way down.
Yes, I know, Virgin River isn't that bad of a hill but ya didn't want me to teach him this on Vail Pass, didja?Gearjammin' Penguin, rank and CorsairFanboy Thank this. -
I drove through those Colorado passes, but in a car, long time before I got my CDL. I have a 10 speed trans now. If I was driving down one of those downgrades, say at 72k gross, what gear should I choose. I have no jake brakes. Just wanted to learn something. I did go down some steep hills locally. I actually did okay going down, but did badly going up. I only had my CDL maybe 6-8 months then. It was in IL on IL-20 near Dubuque IA. By the end of the day I learned how to go up those hills.

The blame will go round and round until everyone forgets about it. Life will go on except for those of us who have to deal with it on a daily basis while screaming from the highest mountain tops that they are giving licsense to people who aren't equipped to drive a car.rank and CorsairFanboy Thank this. -
I will never feel bad for someone who doesn't take their job seriously enough to learn how to do it properly.
I don't see how anyone can make a case for this guy giving a #### about anyone's safety, his own included.
Failing to plan is planning to fail - period.
This guy made his bed now he lies in it.
Its 2019 and nothing is anyone's fault. Endless blame game.
At the end of the day, whatever results in maximum profits for the corporations is what is going to happen, and it can be difficult to tell where a corporation ends and the government begins...CorsairFanboy Thanks this.
