That is great if you have your own authority as an independent carrier.

But if you are leasing on to a carrier with old skool trucks is where the problem comes about compatible ELD devices.

first off, you cant use an "ELD" device on a motor that does not have an ECM, or an ECM that does not meet the data requirements of the ELD mandate.
You can use an EOBRD or AOBRD.....maybe. EOBRD should work AOBRD probably wont depending on the software.

Not sure what that means. I suspect auto correct gotcha.
Like I stated, ELD will not work with a LOT of older ECMs (pre-200), It will work with 98 and 99 60s series.
    Older than that, no.
If you are referring to any electronic log as an ELD, I am sorry but I cant think like that.

As for what the company requires, that is their ordeal. You are not required to be on the same device per FMCSA, it will be a company mandate.

If you are running Omnitracs, you can run on your own accoubnt and have multiple DOT numbers (carriers), but will need to grant access to the Company you are leased on with.
A lot of carriers have different requirements, so best to ask them

No, autocorrect didnt get me. I inadvertently left out the word "is".
Thank you new guy. Your vast reputia of knowledge is spectacular.

You have very few comments and no one has shown appreciation of your 13 posts. When you come out of the blue and start yr comment with "first off", that doesnt set a good tone. So I took yr information, though well explained, as just another superturcker flapping his/her lips.

Yes, I am referring to any ELD as an ELD. I used it as a generic term. Im sorry that youre "unable to think like that". In the future, I would appreciate you not reply to, quoting from or in any way referencing my posts. Including this one. Thank you.

I believe he is referring to leasing onto a carrier with a truck he already owns, as he doesnt have his own authority... But does already own a truck, an older one from the gist of his questions.
