When you say, "Hard to crank.", what exactly do you mean? Is the starter dragging? Or do you mean hard to start?

yes just the two bolts, but you should be fine like that, might need it tho for a priming after an oil change or if a check valve goes bad and leaks fuel back to the tank

I read a thread regarding this issue, previously. Mr. Haney said he removed the hand primer and drilled the two holes out to 3/8” for better flow, then installed the block off cap.
    Any thoughts on this procedure?

Works great if your running a fass or purflow air separation system with electric motor, other wise you have no way to prime. I did it on 3406C and was very happy. I never did it on my 6NZ

    Oxbow Thanks this.

Just put a block off plate on it. Throw the primer pump in the tool box just in case you ever need it. I've been running it this way for 8 years now, never needed the primer pump.. just fill your fuel filter up when you spin a new one on at service. You dont need a fass or anything like that.

I always carried an extra primer pump in the tool box for every cat I ever owned. And an extra fuel shutoff solenoid that the plunger was cut off. And and and and...................lots of good stuff.
