I meant what company’s. I’ve had a lot of fun shutting down loudmouth freight o/o’s. They start bragging about their high gross revenue, and I’d tell em, we’ll my gross is half of yours, but I still make more than you. They could never figure out that gross is meaningless, it’s net that you should be concerned with. But the kinda rates your talking about would offset a higher operating cost.

You want some quality transportation stories......

On some loads they deducted the full cost of the tank wash off the top of the gross revenue.....BS

And with Air Products loads out of a certain plant (which I won’t name) you had to give 8 hours loading / unloading time combined before any detention time started. And since the trailers were always preloaded it really means 8 hours at receiver before you got jack...... and both ends had appointment times always .

I won’t even start about the crap rate Dow gets on detention time........you can make more flipping burgers.

I’m an o/o hauling fuel. Not a bad job. Always something new and interesting. Can be challenging sometimes, but it’s keeping me busy.

I would be concerned a little about why a chemical hauler can't get enough help.
For a few years I was dedicated, during season hauling hot oil, every single player in town was steady after my job, and at times when a rush was on, they had to use several of them at half my rate. I finally gave it to them, every year after the first couple of years, the rates would drop a little. They still call once in a while wanting me to come back, even drop by a few times a year just to BS, but I am not pulling a tanker for rates that I could get running around town with a belly dump, or freight rates.

wrong chemical into the wrong tank can be instant 6+ figure $$$ product loss, or instant mushroom cloud. Milk doesn't explode
