I guess there’s no internet out in the country where I’m moving to and AT&T has a satellite tv and Hughes internet package for around 120 a month.

I’m leery of the satellite internet but I’m hooked on watching Amazon Prime and using my laptop that I guess I have to try it.
    Anyone ever use it?

How about Verizon do you get a signal? If so get a unlimited hotspot from a 3rd party.. i got one i don't get throttled at all but after 700GB they can slow you down lol

Don't worry about satellite tv. Look in to streaming tv.

Just worry about internet tv. It's the future. And ATT has a couple of apps. And if you have ATT cell. You get a discount. I have their directvnow app.

AS far as satellite internet. SpaceX just started launching. Hughes is about to become obsolete.

There are options for tv. And soon to be options for internet. 5G.

Have them spell out the rates in writing. I inquired about it when I moved back to Pennsylvania out in the sticks. It's F eh expensive. Or was back then. They don't give you a whole lot of megabytes in the grand scheme of todays world. Like one or two movies would use it all. Then it got REALLY expensive once you went over your allotted amount.

I used to play Call of Duty in my truck using Verizon jet pack and it would literally drain my GB within 1 week.. so I guess it all depends on what you do..

It's been a while since we had that, it's better than dial up until snow or ice piles up on the satellite or its cloudy.

Cable wrestles with other people in the same area. So when you think you are fast, there is 100 others feeding on the node.

Satellite is not too attractive to me, and fails in storms due to the simple reason water in enough amounts block the signal. Also in gaming the latency differences are big enough that if you are shot in a shooting game by someone else you are already dead and has not updated to the respawn screen yet.

I can go on and pick at it some more.

Ultimately I am on a sort of a life line for internet service where I pay 10.00 a month for whatever my router can get coming and going which is adequate. Way better than the 70.00 a month retail customers pay.

My smart phone has internet, but it's seriously crappy. 3G or whatever it is. Not even that. I don't use it much except to verify that my home internet is down if I cannot connect.

    Lux Prometheus Thanks this.
