A good dispatch service can make you better money when the spot market is good, but when it's dead, where are they gonna get you loads from?
When there are 300 trucks posted and 30 loads available, there is nothing you can do really besides being the 1st caller for the decent load.
You better lease to a carrier with contract freight

When the spot market is averaging 1.80 a mile ill gladly give up 25% to landstar to average 3.50 a mike.

The national average rates posted by DAT are a very, very “average” number because it includes the entire nation. You have to look further into it. Yes, even further than the 5 national regions. Also, even further than that, and further on. Well, I think I’ve said too much already. I don’t want to reveal...

Averages or any kind of rates analytics don't matter in this kind of market. Brokers do not negotiate when they have 20 phone calls on hold, all trying to get the same one load haha

    Your rught
Your right when you have the backing of a strong freight base from a company like Landstar, it makes it a little more comfortable in tough times like these. Your not fighting the spot market with your back against the wall. Your almost guaranteed freight. Signing on to a carrier would probably be your best bet right now until things get better. I'm glad you have that cushion because I don't like to see any of my brothers out here stress and suffer from something we can't even control.

Do dispatch services also do all the billing for you as well? How does the dispatch service insure they get paid if all the revenue isn’t going through them?

Dispatch service also signs you up with new brokers and has your broker packet and works as a representative of your MC?

That would be a lot to keep track of if handling multiple trucks with multiple mc’s and doing multiple billing.
