The way i look at it is i would only run under my own numbers if i would make substantially more money doing so. In my case i wouldn't because i would lose out on the good paying freight i get access to by being leased on to a carrier. Example: Lockheed martin, boeing, rolls royce and ge are not gonna put a 5 million dollar jet engine on spyder trucking. The lowered insurance cost is just icing on the cake. My physical damage and bobtail insurance is just over 100 bucks a month. Cargo and liability is covered by the carrier out of their 25%.

You got a good deal over there. I wouldn't leave either boss. I think very highly of Landstar and when someone asks me where should I lease on to Landstar is always my first referral.

I'm not with landstar, im with a competitor of them but honestly we all got the same customers paying the same rates. There is very little difference between the big all owner operator companies.

Flat. I have no interest in running all over gods creation chasing van freight. Im not saying good paying van freight didn't exist, its just so much easier to consistently get good rates with a flat. At least in my experience.
