With a Moloch like them, it is very weird to deal with in all kinds of unclear situations. You call them with an issue then you don't talk to anyone but some impotent minnows that never seem to care. I think it is better to avoid them for the peace of mind.

If your worried about put the extra 17 g's an an escrow account, wait a reasonable amount of time. If as described you accepted a legitmate offerm and they paid it. If was ubers mistake then to bad for them. Enjoy the money just set it aside for awile to make sure theres no repercussions. When in dorbt thats why I have an attourney, legal issues I do not seek advise here. To many that want to look self righteous hang out here.

Sounds better than dealing with grocery warehouses.

This is no different then when a ATM machine
Screws up and gives everybody 500 hundred
    Dollars instead of a 100.

Not there fault, everybody's happy as a
    Pig in mud.
Then 2 weeks later they all have to pay it back.

I would let it sit in the bank for six months.
If I don't hear nothing by then it's all mine.

for this analogy to fit he would have had to have booked it at 1,900 and been paid 19,000...

Call me naive or stupid but to me this vote for "just keep it" is a lack of principles. Unless, they would confirm that it was an intended rate.
If that was the opposite scenario; the O.P. would pay for a nonreturnable or nonrefundable item online, which is always listed for $1,900.00 and that one time only they would shift the comma 4 places to $19000,00 by an error or by a mischief and the unsuspecting O.P. would do "one click" purchase resulting in 19K debit. Would you all people who now say that he's all right to keep it all, also say that the purchase was right and he cannot be refunded? I don't think so.

I get it, it is UBER and we - small people - don't always sympathize with the heartless corporate world but I could not be a business partner with OP or anyone deciding to keep that money, simply out of concern that they could do the same to me.

Just a few weeks ago a teller at my local bank gave me an extra 100 dollar bill. I carried it right back inside once I discovered it. I knew it would probably come out of her paycheck if I had kept it.
